Well, I found #1, 2, and 5 easy, and I'm pretty sure about #4. I have only a guess at #3.

#2 is Laura Ingalls Wilder -- to be specific, Charles Ingalls, a chance encounter in the Minnesota woods. Caroline would be horrified at the sight of the unladylike Carter, but her second daughter might get ideas.
