In an Ancient stasis pod for MUCH too long

It's been a very busy half year for me, including another grandchild (whee!) and various other tidbits of RL. But I've been sparing wistful glances for our poor neglected FINAL Alphabet Soup, which is still only half-complete.

Anyone remember this? Off-Screen Missions, which features missions that are referenced or implied during an episode but not actually shown onscreen. It was a marvelously intriguing concept that, sadly, hasn't come into real fruition.

Due to the diminishing fanbase, this is going to be the last Soup. But I would at least like to see it complete.

To date, half the Soup has been posted - you'll find the thirteen entries at this post. The many, many prompts that are still available can be found at this link.

So how about it, gen fans? Let's bring the Alphabet Soup series to a triumphant conclusion! New cooks as well as seasoned experts are more than welcome, and I will happily answer any questions you might have.

I was just thinking about this, last night! Life reared up and knocked me down for a while, and at the moment everything is immensely busy and chaotic, but I still have my entry half-written and I still want to go back to it. So... yes.

What is "Alphabet Soup" in this context?

I see the prompt list and I'm intrigued, so inquiring minds would like to know!

Aww, this Soup! It's been simmering for a long time. I've already contributed two fics, but if it helps us complete this thing I'd be happy to do another. I'll hold back for anyone else that wants to have a go first, but if you need me to pinch hit, let me know!

May I have "The Light: Daniel's mission to the P4X-347 with SG-5" please? I'd love to work on an SG1 fic again!

Hi there! Glad you are giving it another try. I hope others will get inspired to write for this soup.

Hi there - I enjoyed doing this Alphabet Soup; I'm sorry to hear it's still not complete.

I can do another one, provided there isn't a short-term (soon-ish) submission deadline. Life is somewhat unpredictable right now and I'd need time to percolate some ideas, but I'd try not to take too long to get it done.

If that works for you, how about I take on "Chain Reaction: the mission that opens the episode, where SG-1 make it back under fire" ?

Hello Fignewton!

I didn't know where to post this, but I figured this was a good as any. :)

I wanted to simply say thanks. I am a total newbie to the fandom, I saw SG-1 for the first time a little over a year ago, and fell in love with it since. One way or another I came across your journal on Live Journal and promptly read through the whole thing. Took several days! Your Canon vs Fanon was very thought provoking, and helped me navigate fan fic. Thank you for taking all that time to rec gen fic. I would have had no idea where to even begin if it weren't for you. I'm a gen girl all the way, so you made things so much easier! I'm a total Daniel fan too, so much of what you reced I enjoyed greatly!

So seriously, thank you!
