The next SG-1 Gen Fic Day will take place on Monday, October 4th. I know that's over a month from now, but I will be mostly absent from this journal between now and then, so I wanted to give you all plenty of advance warning!

On October 4th, I'll post an entry here on this journal. Everyone is welcome to comment with links to new fic, older fic, recs, commentfic, meta, vids -- anything, as long as it's gen and related to SG-1.

Gen Fic Days are often associated with Alphabet Soup, mostly because it's a shameless excuse to make sure we have at least 26 new ficlets for the occasion. :) We won't be having one this time, but I do want to take the opportunity to throw open a discussion on the subject.

To date, there have been ten Alphabet Soups: one each for Sam, Teal'c, Daniel, Jack, George Hammond, Janet Frasier, Jacob Carter, Vala, Jonas, and Team -- all gen and canon-compliant. It's been a wonderful ride, and I'm truly proud that eighty-seven different people have contributed over the years. That's a pretty good record for gen fic!

Back in July 2009, we had two polls to determine which characters would be chosen to be featured in a Soup after the Big Four (and pretty Big Two) had already been highlighted. At the time, Jacob, Vala, Jonas, and Bra'tac got the most votes. Bra'tac's turn was deferred for Team Soup and should technically be next, but after such a long time, I would prefer to first make sure that there is sufficient interest.

So I've included a poll below the cut. Even if you have no interest in writing, I'd appreciate it if you'd take a few moments to click on some ticky boxes. I've posted the poll both on LJ and on DW to ensure that everyone can take part; if you're part of my flist/circle on both, please vote at only one site. :)

If we continue to have Alphabet Soups, which character should be featured next?

Bra'tac, because it's his turn and I want to write awesome Jaffa stuff.
6 (75.0%)

Walter and/or Siler, because they're really running the SGC anyway.
4 (50.0%)

Cameron Mitchell, because he's the only member of SG-1 who hasn't been featured yet.
4 (50.0%)

Sha're, because she is too fantastic to be so easily forgotten.
4 (50.0%)

Bill Lee, because minor characters help create the story.
2 (25.0%)

Dixon and SG-13, because they have teamy goodness, too.
3 (37.5%)

A more general topic, such as villains, Tok'ra, Goa'uld, Asgard, etc.
3 (37.5%)

Someone else, who I have mentioned in the comments.

I don't care who is featured, but I love ticky-boxes!
