August: fandom, fics, recs

This was a very busy month in RL. Kinda busy in online life, too. :)

Nearly all my fandom time was taken up with the sg1friendathon, which ran all month and just officially ended yesterday. If you haven't been following the comm, we had 35 gen friendship stories. Yeah, even if stringertheory was responsible for nearly a third of 'em :D I am so happy to see gen fic going strong! You'll find the master list here.

sg1friendathon is also having a Ficathon Frenzy, in which any unclaimed prompts (close to 140 of them, heh) are eligible for ficlets of any length. The Frenzy will run for one week, starting tomorrow, September 1st. I'd appreciate it if you'd all spread the word to your reading circles -- after such a bang of a ficathon, I'd hate to see the Frenzy trail off with a whimper.

Not sure how I managed to write any fic this month, but I did!

Canis Major was my contribution to sg1friendathon and was actually written at the end of the July, but as mod, my entry ended up going last. It's Daniel and Teal'c (yay!) and was supposed to be light-hearted, only Daniel and Teal'c wanted all the ANGST. Seriously, in the original version there was no aiming of staff weapons at anyone bipedal... Although other incidents involving staff weapons were in the original version. :)

Then there were these ficlets from various prompts, all light and hopefully fun:

A Study of Cultural Behavior. Another Teal'c and Daniel piece. You wouldn't expect the alien to be more knowledgeable of Tau'ri culture, would you?

Chug When They Reverse the Polarity. Sam, Janet, and movie choices!

Purple Beaches and Green Bikinis. This one is teamy goodness, Jack and Teal'c friendship, and Hammond awesomeness.

I started another one that combines two of the prompts you lovely people gave me mid-month, but that one actually has a plot and will probably take a little longer.

On to this month's recs -- less than I wanted to do, but all I could manage this time around. All the fics were recced at stargateficrec and archived at figs_sg1_rec. The Master List of SG-1 fic recs is actually up-to-date. Eventually, it's going to get too big for a single entry, even on Dreamwidth.
