I finished the month of April with my 200th rec for [community profile] stargateficrec, which is an astonishing, and possibly slightly alarming, accomplishment for the thirteen months I've been doing this. :) My thanks to the mods, to the readers who have been nothing but encouraging, and to the amazing authors who keep writing such wonderful stories for me to rec!

This month was one of my favorites: Teamy Goodness! Please note that the links lead to the full recommendation in [community profile] stargateficrec, not to the fics themselves. Stories are gen unless otherwise noted. The master list of fic recs can be found here.

Previous Teamy Goodness recs can be found here and here.

If you have some personal favorites of your own, why not sign up to rec? The FAQ will walk you through the process, and the mods are always ready to answer any questions you might ask. You don't need to be as compulsive - I mean, obsessive - that is, fanatical - er, let's just say as enthusiastic as I am, either - you need only commit yourself to four recs over the course of one month in your category. That's only one rec a week, so spread some SG-1 squee! Or, if you prefer, some Atlantis squee, for the SGA fans out there. :)

[personal profile] aurora_novarum’s recommendation to see Line in the Sand was a great one, so I trusted her enough to try this Daniel-free episode, too. I didn’t write down my reactions as I watched, so not only will this review be rather rambling, but it will also be out-of-order. Sorry. :)

So, The Road Not Taken. An interesting premise, but a disappointing outcome.

So, to sum up – once again, an episode gave me a lot to think about. But a lot of it didn’t quite fit. And it takes very strong blinders to ignore the blatant political commentary and enjoy the episode on its own merits.

Off to write some meta, and then to read other people’s reviews! It was quite an effort not to click on many of the posts on my f-list. :)

I have some basic problems with the construction of the backstory for the episode The Road Not Taken. Analyzing the clues we're given leaves us with some pretty interesting contradictions in the storyline.

Conclusion: the premise we were given in The Road Not Taken was highly intriguing, but poorly envisioned by the writers. And for some odd reason, I’m not all that surprised by that. ;)
