Current events leave me with little fannish enthusiasm, even if the idea of escapist fun is appealing. What little fandom time I do have has been spent reading the latter volumes of HOME, most of which were published long after I moved to a different country and lost easy access to libraries. It's fascinating, albeit a little depressing, to realize that a. my favorite aspects of Middle-Earth are apparently the parts that interested their creator the least and b. some of my favorite characters' existence were only added as an afterthought. OTOH, Trotter the wooden-shod hobbit is still as hilarious as it ever was. :) It's also amazing (and humbling!) as a writer to see how often Tolkien didn't know what was going to happen. "Who is Trotter?" leaves my jaw dropping, not to mention the idea of traitor!Boromir, a living Denethor, and a dead Eowyn...

Anyway. No writing from me these past two months, but I did manage a minimum of recs. You all know the drill by now: they were recced at stargateficrec and archived at [personal profile] figs_sg1_rec. The Master List of Fic Recs is still current only through January. Ouch.
