Pre-mission exams MUST be a regular thing. I'm always irritated by hurt/comfort stories that are based on the premise of Daniel or Jack or Sam feeling sick or headachey and going off-world anyway. No no no no no no. No WAY would Janet let someone who was not in optimum health go to a planet literally hundreds of light-years away from medical help - not to mention risking the lives of their fellow teammates because they aren't up to par!

The only "Daniel lies about his health" story that I've ever liked takes place very early in SG-1, when Daniel is slightly paranoid about losing the opportunity to look for Sha're and is still thinking in terms of being on a dig - "if you're sick, you take two aspirin and go to work anyway." Under any other cirucmstances, though? It's wildly OOC for both the character in question and Janet to allow someone who's coming down with something to go on a mission.

I just can't see them using every time, without reasonable suspicion.

Exactly. Which is why I define the "mandatory MRI" thing as fanon. :)
