Mind you, our Daniel is even more of a polyglot than Louise :) but I thought there were some nice touches here.

Fascinating! I've not seen the movie but I kind of want to now. Some of that went right over my head but I do understand, and agree with, the immersion idea. You might learn a language by listening and speaking it an hour a day but until you immerse yourself with native speakers, you're never going to understand it.

I haven't seen the movie, nor do I have any interest in it. I just saw "linguistics" and "fiction" and my brain went "DANIEL." :)

I love that scene in S:tM when Daniel spends the whole night talking to Sha'uri and that's how he really picks up the language.
