Claims post: Teal'c Alphabet Soup

We'll be serving up Teal'c Alphabet Soup on July 8, in honor of SG-1 Gen Fic Day and Daniel Jackson's birthday. Here's where you claim a letter to take part in the cooking process.

Teal'c fic is awesome when it's done right. It's also regrettably rare, because it's really hard to do right. I'm hoping that the advance notice will help get some really good Teal'c writers on this project so that we have a most exquisite serving of Teal'c Alphabet Soup!

This is how it works: the letters of the alphabet are available on a first come, first served basis. Comment here and claim a letter - for now, one letter per author only. I'll strike them out as they're claimed, but as long as you made your request first, the letter is yours. By making a claim, you are committing yourself to writing at least 100 words on Teal'c by July 8. On that day, comment with your fic in the SG-1 Gen Fic Day post, using the title as the subject of your comment (B is for Bra'tac, D is for Dakara, T is for Tabloid). If your story is too long to fit in a comment, post a paragraph or two and link to the rest on your own LJ (not off LJ, please). On July 9, I'll collate all the ficlets in alphabetical order and post them together as delectable Teal'c Alphabet Soup.

There are only four rules: your fic must be at least 100 words, although there is no maximum limit; it must be about Teal'c, and preferably a defining aspect of our favorite Jaffa; it should not contradict canon, because we want to define the Teal'c we know and love from the show; and it should be gen, as explained below.

The first one was gen because we wanted it to be about defining Sam, and people shouldn't be defined by their love lives! The second one was also gen, because - well, it was for Gen Fic Day. And since I'm arbitrarily linking this next edition of Alphabet Soup to Gen Fic Day again, I'm asking that our Teal'c-flavored Alphabet Soup be gen as well.

This doesn't mean that mention of Teal'c's canon relationships is verboten. An author is welcome to mention, or even focus, upon Drey'auc or Shau'nac (or Shauna) or Ishta. But no romance, please. If in doubt, feel free to ask.

In the past, a few authors were confused by the obligations and the keywords, so I'll try to explain this clearly: the keywords are suggestions only, words that came to mind as I typed this. If you're inspired to use one of the keywords for your fic, that's great! If a different idea strikes you, that's great, too. You do not have to use any of the keywords I've offered here, you do not have to get my approval for your keyword, and you certainly do not have to use multiple keywords just because I offered multiple suggestions.
