SG-1 Gen Fic Day round-up

Yesterday's SG-1 Gen Fic Day was much quieter than usual, so an extra special thanks to the participants! Here's the round-up of all the gen goodness.

New fics

We had lots of new fics this time time! These are listed in the order in which they were linked:

beanpot wrote the newest addition to her Granma Mitchell series, set in the early years before the SGC: Please have Snow and Mistletoe.

colej55 wrote an extra Jacob ficlet in which he looks back at the zaniness of the last years of his life: Zealots, Za’tarcs, and Zombies… Oh My!

sg_betty wrote Silence Is Not An Option., a Jack and Daniel ep tag for Origin.

nightspear wrote Scientists, Slaves, and Soldiers, covering Jonas' arc from S6 through S10.

chocolatekettle wrote Five Jaffa Fairy Tales, some of which may seem vaguely familiar!

randomfreshink wrote Jack Has Not Missed..., a sharp post-Shroud Jack and Daniel fic.

ETA: gategremlyn contributed a last-minute addition that didn't quite make it into Jacob Alphabet Soup: O is for Oz, in which a certain scene in Tangent leads to lots of teasing!

Older fics

I specifically asked for shameless self-promotion links for older Jacob related fics, but the only one who bothered linking to such fics was, well, me. :)

Shopping Trip, in which Jacob takes SG-1 shopping with a stolen credit card and Sam contemplates committing either patricide or murder of her CO - or possibly both.

No Place Like Home. Missing scene from Tangent.

Scenes from a Blending, by AstroGirl ( astrogirl2 ). At least this Selmak, from what little he's seen of her, seems like a decent enough person. Or alien. Not something that's likely to come bursting out of his chest, or take him over and send him on a killing rampage, anyway. He hopes. This is my favorite Jacob/Selmak fic in the fandom. It's beautiful and brilliant and the voices are perfect, and the author had only seen up through season 4 and yet there are moments when you swear she'd seen all of them.

Overtime, by SG!-Fanfic. PG-13. This was one I'd been wanting to reread for a while, but had misplaced and found again just in time for Gen Fic Day. The story opens with the SGC taking stock after a flurry of missions and emergencies that have left personnel scattered around the galaxy. It quickly is discovered that Sam is missing. The story zigzags between past and present as her teammates track Sam's movements through the crises, and Sam's own story unfolds.

Xenophilia, by annerbhp. This has to be fanfic, because the combination of Bra'tac and Jacob and Hammond in a single scene would make screens explode in awesomeness overload. G.

Kli'mal, by kormantic. Jacob and Bra'tac playing a game of strategy, and all bets are off as to who might win. G.

For I Have Seen the Storm by abyssinnia4077. Jacob and Sha're, and put this firmly in the "if-only" column. PG.

Bonded by tallulah_rasa. Utterly hilarious Daniel pwnage as Jack gets a lot closer to Jacob than either one wants. PG.

Jacob Alphabet Soup is still short three letters. I hope the authors will submit them very soon! :) HTML coding for the anthology has already been worked out, so as soon as I get all three ficlets, I'll be able to post with very little delay.

ETA: One author defaulted, and three volunteers wrote flash ficlets to make up for it! Jacob Alphabet Soup is now available for your reading pleasure.

Do you know if all the ep tags and missing scenes you mentioned are linked from Redial? If not I'll go check.

Not sure I understand the question, Cesy.

All the new fic is obviously new :) and hasn't been linked anywhere, although the "new" Beanpot fic is actually two years old - I missed that little detail when I was coding! :)

As for the recs, all of them, with the exception of Overtime, have been previously recced on my own rec archive, but I can't say for sure whether or not they've been linked at Redial.

Yeah, I was meaning to check if someone had already gone to the relevant fanworks post for each new fic and linked it from there, but it sounds like the answer is no, so I'll do that shortly.

I just realised why else the question wouldn't have made sense - I'm still in season 4, so used to Redial being the absolute reference for everything, whereas for the later eps, Redial hasn't got that far yet, so there's no fanworks post to add them to.

I'll just go and hide in the corner now. Sorry to have bothered you.

Oh, I only wish I could look at Redial as an absolute reference! Sadly, enthusiasm for fanworks slacks off after the first few seasons. There are many episodes that don't have any fanworks linked at all.

No reason to hide in the corner - it's such a pleasure to watch you wander through Redial and other favorite LJ corners and find the good stuff. :)
