Today's Real Life comic!

Speaking as someone who watched Stargate the Movie after mainlining half the series and actually thought, "Wow, Spader really nailed Shanks' mannerisms!" before doing a mental double take, I completely sympathize with this. :)

lol.

i read a bunch of comments by people who don't know their movie or fantasy history to the effect that Peter Jackson ripped off George Lucas' Star Wars right, left and center in LOTR.

LOL.

I just wanted you to know that both the comic and your note added some LOL's to a day that was DESPERATELY in need of it.

[My 7 year old missed the bus, so I had to get up 2 1/2 hours early to drive her in, the woodstove was not stoked before my husband left,so I came back to a cold house, and I discovered mostly consumed rum in my 14 year old's room while looking for the upstairs phone, and it's only 10:30 a.m., for crying out loud!]

So thank you. It was a small thing, but a good laugh. I'll take it!

*chuckles* It really is funny how it worked out.

I come from the completely opposite end-- I was a fan of the movie since I was 14, and I didn't find SG-1 until I was 27, so I had 13 years of thinking that Daniel was James Spader and O'Neil was Kurt Russel and Ra was more like an asgard and less like a snakehead. However, for me, SG-1 is my canon, not the movie (unless they can be reconciled!)

i've only see in movie 2 or 3 times. the first being about 2 years after i first started watching the show in syndication.
i never the saw the "shanks trying to be spader" thing. one of the reasons i'm doing the re-watch on hulu.com is to look for that. i see how he tried to, but didn't quite succeed IMHO.
