August: recs, fic, fandom

A bit early, I know, but it's been a quiet month and I expect more of the same in the next week...

I only had the chance to do a little bit of writing, but All the Difference is something I've wanted to do for a while: create some backstory for the rather dark AU of Road Not Taken. It's only four drabbles based on dialogue from the ep, but I'm rather pleased with how it turned out.

I will point you all to Gatefic, which is planning a Stargate SG-1 fanworks awards and is still trying to gather nominations. If you want to make sure your corner of fandom is well-represented, the best thing to do is nominate!

redial_the_gate continues to be its splendid self. :) We have just finished the Heroes two-parter. If you're not yet watching the comm, why not wander over and poke around?

I did manage to do quite a bit of reccing this month, though. I started a new category, because that's always fun :) -- Moebius-related fics. And I got to rec pure Daniel fics, something in which I haven't indulged in quite a while!

Ordinary, I just add ::insert regular encouragement to sign up to rec here:: but Tishrei begins in early September this year, which means I'll be completely off-line for two weeks and mostly off-line the week before and after that. Because of those time constraints, I'm only signing up for one category -- Sam and Janet friendship, another new one. Stargateficrec could definitely use more volunteers, so why not wander over there and choose a category to rec next month? Just because I'm so obsessed prolific doesn't mean that you have to be -- the minimum is only four recs a month. :)

In other gen rec news, sg1genrecs has been enjoying some excellent recs in the under the influence category. The theme will continue until the end of the month, so if you've got a favorite story of that genre, I hope you'll post! And if you need a DW code, I've got plenty to share.

One last thing: one_prompt goes live on September 1 with the latest challenge: catastrophe. I hope I'll have something written (good thing drabbles are eligible, heh). If the muse strikes, I hope you'll write something -- it's a fun comm that could always use more love.
