Here's the rather scanty roundup for the first two months of this calendar year!
In fandom,
redial_the_gate is nearing the end of the cycle. We've done Unending, although there are still two movies and a few missing ep recaps to go. It's been a long, wonderful ride, and I'm only sorry that the natural erosion of the fandom, with our closed canon, means that there's been less activity in the past year. But I owe a lot to Redial -- the chance to mod together with three of the best SG-1 fans out there (::squishes Aby and Aurora and Pepper::), the incentive to watch S6 in its entirety and the other eps I skipped along the way, and lots and lots of great fandom squee. :)
Speaking of eps I skipped along the way... I finally watched my very last ep of SG-1. Pity it had to be Uninvited, but there you go. I have now seen the entire canon of a television show for the first time ever!
In other fandom news, we celebrated our fourteenth SG-1 Gen Fic Day, complete with Cam Alphabet Soup.
In honor of Cam Alphabet Soup, I wrote O is for Optimism. I have to confess to a bit of amusement that I technically managed to set a Cam fic during classic team era! Spoilers for Continuum, with spoilers for a certain S2 episode thrown in for good measure.
Then there's my new intermittent project: On the Outside, Looking In, a series of drabbles for every episode and movie of SG-1. The hook, so to speak, is that each drabble is from the POV of an outsider or minor character. The link will take you to the first entries, which cover Stargate: the Movie through the end of Season Two. I find a certain pleasurable irony in considering that the series, when complete, would qualify for
stargate_summer. Writing well over 200 drabbles is certainly the hard way to do that!
Onto the recs! As I mentioned last week, the format of my reccing will be shifting slightly away from category mode. I'm still not sure exactly how it's going to work, but I may not be able to list categories in the future the way that I've done until now. We'll see how it goes.
In the meantime, though, here's the recs from the last two months. All the fics were recced at
stargateficrec and archived at
figs_sg1_rec. The Master List of SG-1 fic recs is current through December; all the new recs are listed below.
Walter the Chevron Guy recs

stargateficrec has changed the volunteering format. If you're interested, the volunteer post should be up on the comm in the next day or so.
As for
sg1genrecs... well, I've been neglecting it of late, I'm sad to say. The current theme is still things that go *boom*, although any gen rec is welcome at any time. If you've got a good gen story to rec, I hope you'll post an entry there!
