Not too much to report in the state of the Fig this month, because most of my fannish time has been involved with behind-the-scenes at
stargateficrec.
angelsgracie left things in smooth running condition, but there are a few things that I wanted to tweak, so...
So now there's a new rec template and we're rehauling the tagging system. The tags are insanely chaotic -- especially from way back at the beginning of the comm's history, when everything from category to warning got tagged and multiple spellings got thrown into the mix. (That's not a sneer, by the way. It's the nature of a hugely popular comm to get confusing after a while.) I've trimmed away seventy-odd tags that were used once or twice over the years and renamed tags to be hierarchal rather than confusing (I hope). That job still isn't finished, but I'm getting there! I'm now looking for some way to display the tags page as multi-level rather than as-is, but it'll have to be a style that allows for a free or plus account. Does anyone have any ideas?
I did manage to get five recs in, though. As always, they were recced at
stargateficrec and archived at
figs_sg1_recs. The Master List of Fic Recs is up-to-date.
By Which My Feet Are Guided, by Lokei (PG) (Daniel angst with team support)
Playing Possum, by Butterfly (PG) (Jack angst)
A Long Drawn-Out Breath and an Impossible Sky, by Magistrate (PG) (Sam drama with bonus Sam-Daniel friendship)
U is for Unspoken, by Thothmes (PG) (Bra'tac pre- and post-series, plus Teal'c and some Apophis cameos)
There Will Come Soft Rains, by Enigmatic Blue (PG) (Sam angst with Sam-Janet and Sam-Jack friendship)
Sadly, I haven't had time to work on
sg1genrecs with the new
stargateficrec responsibility. Let's hope some other interested reccers remember to post a link or two!
And finally, in the fic department, I managed the sixth installment of On the Outside, Looking In. It is currently only on DW because I can't load LJ. I can't even tell if it's my filter causing trouble or an actual LJ outage, sigh.
(I was going to write all ten seasons this year. It was going to be my incentive to get at least 22,000 words of fic written. Silly Fig.)
~insert usual encouragement to sign up to rec at
stargateficrec here~
For the record, there are five (actually, four) volunteers to rec SGA pairings and one volunteer to rec Tok'ra gen (YAY). I'd love to see more SG-1 volunteers, no matter what flavor - although I will be very happy to see more gen fic recced, natch!

I have your George six-things bookmarked to read, and I remember I had another one of yours as well as Tallulah's to read, but I can't find it in my bookmarks. Thank you so muchf for the gentle inquiry - it's greatly appreciated!
BTW, can you get onto LJ? Is this a current problem with the site, or is it just me?

I just got back from the post office, and haven't had a chance to check on it empirically yet.
I'm glad you liked that icon. I like it too, but I just somehow rarely run across situations when I get to use it, so I was a little gleeful to use it then!
