The good news: we have 26 stories! Time Travel Soup is complete!

Even better news: over 53,000 words! Wheee!

Headdesk news: we are 7K over the 300K limit for DW entries. ARGH.

Bear with me, please. I'll have it up as soon as I can figure out how.

Edit: we actually have 27 stories and are over 54,000 words - and yes, 10K over the 300K limit. So. I have gone ahead and posted the abridged version over at LJ. I will continue trying to find some way to trim 10K worth of characters/spaces (not words) from the file. But in the meantime, at least everyone can start reading. :)

Heh. A deceptively simple solution. Part of me feels that two entries means less people clicking through to the 2nd part; part of me likes it for the benefit of having all the stories in full. This probably won't get resolved until Sunday, so there's time to consider. In the meantime, you can start at the abridged Soup on LJ...

It's really none of my business how you post the Soups -- totally your call. But when I read them I find it incredibly difficult to scroll through such a huge file. Most of the ficathons or fic events I'm familiar with simply collect the stories and then provide links to each one. So I actually would prefer that it be broken into more parts -- that for me would be a feature, not a bug.

But of course you have your own system that works for you!

I absolutely see where you're coming from, and if the Soups would have started as they are today, I would probably arrange it like the sg1friendathon, with its own comm and a masterlist, etc.

But it's grown so much over the years! The first Soup technically limited each letter to 200 words (we were in a hurry then) and came in at around 9,500 words. Our 10th Soup was about 38,000 words. Compare that with this last one, which totaled over 54,000 words! So the sheer size of the Soups these days have sort of sneaked up on me.

If I had expectations of many more Soups in the future, I might consider revamping the system; but I can't see more than one or two happening after this, so...

If you really do find it too overwhelming, try the LJ version, which has about 300-400 words of fic before linking to the rest of the story. Or you can do what campylobacter suggested, and just skim through the submissions to the Gen Fic Day post (mostly on LJ, where many authors included fic headings like characters, summaries, word counts, etc.

I'm sure you will find a solution that works for you!

FYI, I rarely read fannish stuff on the LJ side, unless I've followed a link to a particular story posted there, so I always appreciate the stuff I can find over here.
