Happy SG-1 Gen Fic Day, everybody!

Comment below with links to new fic, older fic, flashfic, recs, self-recs, meta, picspam, icons, vids, and general squee - anything at all, as long as it's gen and related to SG-1.

The theme of the day is kidfic, including a piping-hot serving of Kidfic Alphabet Soup (perfect for late November!), but any gen work that isn't kidfic is more than welcomed, too.

Soup authors, this is where you should leave a link to your story. If you haven't yet sent me a copy of your story and your TOC entry, please do so.

We are still missing a few letters of Soup, so if you feel like dashing off at least 100 words of gen kidfic (in any definition thereof), comment below for that, too, and I will happily PM you a letter.

Number one of the list, of course, is Nightspear's Daniel of Abydos series, which is the equivalent of five novels' worth of alternate reality. The expedition to Abydos took place in the 80s, with Drs. Claire and Melbourne Jackson, and Daniel is born on Abydos... and accidentally brought back to Earth during the alternate events of COTG. First four novels at AO3; last novel on LJ or at FF.net.

Coming Into Being, by Raven. Classic "downsizing" fic that never strays out of character and allows the reader to enjoy the reactions of just about everybody. Fluffy and fun, with unexpected depth around the edges.

Of Honey Cakes and Honor, by Thothmes. Literally delicious! Bra'tac and Teal'c's first meeting.

Exerpt: The boy slept, small thumb hanging from the edge of his mouth, dark, soft, whisps of baby hair plastered in sweat across his brow, chubby cheeks moving as if dreaming of sucking from his mother's breast. Ronac felt a pang, a shiver of fear. He was so small. He had no prim'ta to protect him. Many young Jaffa died in the years before they came of age to receive one, as was right and proper, since only the strong should be granted the gift of long life and vibrant health that the gods gave. Ronac had been shocked on his return, when his wife had put this tiny scrap of a thing into his arms.

"He is too small!" he had gasped, and looked at his wife with disapproval. She was tall, among Jaffa women, only a few inches shorter than he himself, but she was slender. Perhaps he should not have married her for her strong character, and her ready smile. Their offspring was small and weak, and would not thrive.
