Soooooo, I happened to visit my profile and I was quite taken aback to learn that it has been thirty-one weeks since my last post. I know I haven't written any fic in much too long and I don't tend to just post at random, but because I am at least semi-active at stargateficrec, I didn't realize I hadn't actually posted in my journal in all that time!

So hi, dear fellow SG-1 fans. I aten't dead. :)

I was just thinking it's been a while since I posted (a few weeks) and maybe I should bash something out. But then I wonder who actually reads personal journals any more? A couple of my friends post semi-regularly, even if one is still on LJ. Everyone else has moved to all these new fangled places.

I know how Teal'c feels!

I think a lot of us are still here, but... dormant, maybe? I like the archiving services of AO3, but there's something about the give-and-take of SG-1 fans here on DW (and LJ) that I'd be sorry to see abandoned entirely.

As someone who is actually new to the party, and is trying to find her footing, I hope it doesn’t die entirely! There is something different and special about a place like this, then those “new fangled” places. They tend not to promote deeper discussion, something that I personally love. Especially if it is about stories, and storytelling.

The deeper discussions are what helped me find a lot of new friends. Seeing people comment on friends' posts, or finding a new community relating to my interests / fandoms, connected me far more than a "like" or trying to follow a non-threaded discussion. And no character limit means you can have more thoughts, not just a soundbite.

Oh, yeah. And if I do bump into familiar names in other venues, it makes that connection so much easier, too!

Indeed. I've been blessed with finding a couple of good groups on Facebook, which are like mini forums. But mostly, as someone who wants to connect more deeply, it doesn't fit too well. Too bad I wasn't around years ago! Still, I'm trying to make those connections, and spark new life into a place like this. it starts with one right? Anyway, you and Fignewton, have definitely encouraged me to keep trying. So thanks guys! <3

I sure do! I'll have to take a peek at the prompts left again. Maybe this time something will spark a thought! If there is anything that I struggle writing is off world missions. I'm great with details, not so much in the world building. I keep trying though! :)
