This month, I got to create a new category over at [livejournal.com profile] stargateficrec: Bra'tac! The old coot deserves his own category, don't you think? :) I also recced Crossovers, which is a bit of a challenge for someone who watches as little television as I do. Still, a really good crossover doesn't demand a real working knowledge of more than one fandom, so it all worked out. I hope!

The links below actually lead to the recommendations at the rec archive at [livejournal.com profile] figs_sg1_rec, but they were all posted first at [livejournal.com profile] stargateficrec, which is a marvelous resource and deserves everyone's participation and support.

The master list of fic recs has now been split in two because of LJ posting constraints: fics titled A-M here and fics titled N-Z here. If you're looking for the most recent recs, or want to search by character or genre, try the rec archive.

Bra'tac recs

::shuffles feet:: Once again, I broke my self-imposed rule to rec only one author per category per month. It's not my fault that so few people out there write Bra'tac fic, and that two of those excellent authors happened to write two excellent stories! But I'll be good next month. Really!

Crossover recs

I'd like to say a special thank-you to everyone who read and commented on my recs this month. The best feedback ever, for a reccer, is seeing new feedback showing up - not for the rec itself, but for the recced story. In this case, one of my recs featured a story that had garnered very little comments when it was first posted - a great fic that somehow got overlooked. After the rec, though, I was delighted to see so many people offering their feedback to the author. The story didn't need any help from me, but I'm glad I was able to point so many people in the direction of a story they'd missed. So thanks, guys, for making all the reccing worthwhile. :)

I'm not remotely suggesting that people should only comment if a fic doesn't have sufficient feedback yet. Believe me, as a writer myself, I know how marvelous even a "Great story!" can be. But when a neglected fic gets the recognition it deserves? That provides a fix not only for the author, but for the reccer, too.

Last day of the month, people! Go and sign up to rec at [livejournal.com profile] stargateficrec! Four recs for the whole month, and you don't have to write an essay for each recommendation, either. Go spread some squee!
