[livejournal.com profile] cleothemuse has pointed out to me that so far, my personal contributions to Alphabet Soup anthologies (one for Sam, two for Daniel, and one for Teal'c) are G, A, E, and T. She wonders if I plan to choose S and T and A and R next... :)

We talked about waiting to do our Alphabet Soup tribute to Hammond so that we can do it right, and the date under consideration was July 29 - 30 days after Don S. Davis left us. It occurs to me, however, that July 29 is the release date for Continuum, which means people are going to be just a tad distracted when the time comes.

What do you all think? Have enough people seen the ::cough:: available version that it won't matter? Should we revise the soup date for an earlier or later time?

We want to do George proud, so what date would be best for it?

I'd appreciate all your opinions on this.

I'm waiting for the DVD to come out but I find the 29th appropriate since Continuum is Hammond's fianal apperance in the SGVerse.

Oooh, that's a lovely thought.

I am torn between waiting because people will be watching and jsut doing it because it would be a nice farewell, as it were.

**sniffle**

::nods:: We don't want George overshadowed, but with Hammond showing up... It's a question, isn't it?

I like the 29th as a date. The fic folks, for the most part, should be either done by that time or putting the polishing touch on. And I agree with Maevebran, it would be a nice tribute to his final appearance.

Besides, watching Continuum would, most likely, leave us all hankering for more Stargate and what better way to satisfy that than by a sled-load of awesome fics?

The stories would actually be due on the 28th. This isn't a Gen Fic Day, when we watch stories go live; this would be more like we did for Abyssis and the Sam anthology, with ficlets submitted in advance and the master post going up at once.

That might actually help. Hmmmm.

I think it's fine--I'm planning on waiting to see the movie, but I'm okay with having the tribute be then, too.

::nods: I've done the waiting-to-watch-with-everyone-else thing before - did it for the second half of S10, in fact. Shared squee is ever so much better!

Cleo had an interesting suggestion, though. Time for another poll, I think.

Well, I've gone out of my way not to see or hear about Continuum in any form, so for me, the 29th will be all about the movie. Assuming I can find a copy here in town. I ordered it last time. Shouldn't matter though, because the story will be done before then - knock on wood...

If the stories go up on the 29th, they'll be due on the 28th. So that clash won't be a problem.

Well, you know I'd get you a story some how! ; )

I'm fine with the day. Along with everything above, it'll be a good way to distract myself while everyone else is watching the movie. (although I'm considering the torrent and holding until release day because I've tried twice to preorder before being shot down by my dad.)

Awww! I hope you get the chance to see it. :)

I seem to be in a distinct minority here. I would prefer to wait until about a week or two after Continuum for the soup, because the movie would give people a new look at Hammond in order to write about him. He hasn't been in canon for years, and people may not have a fresh impression of him unless they go back to their old dvds, especially the Team Cam fans.

But I will make time for it regardless. Thanks for doing this.

I hear what you're saying. I do have to wonder, though, how interested "Team Cam" fans (great phrasing, that) would be in this project in the first place. I don't know how much Hammond shows up in the movie, but unless he plays a seriously major role (rather than the cameo he had in S9), how much George love can it inspire already? It's the classic team fans who care about Hammond, and those fans already know and love him quite well.

There's been an interesting suggestion, though, so it's time for yet another poll... :)

I'm fine with the 29th, but how about August 4th? That would have been Don S. Davis' 66th birthday.

Oooh, a very interesting idea!

Your bald icon, btw, is totally made of win. :)

Hehe... made it to go with the story (and I needed Teal'c, Hammond, Bra'tac, and Jacob icons anyway)

I'm indifferent to the date. I think it took me a month to find the time to watch Ark of Truth, and I didn't pick it up until weeks after it came out. (Due to lack of time to watch, not lack of interest.) Not that I have any idea for a Hammond fic at the moment. Must go troll amongst the WIPs.
