In a first for me, I paused during watching the episode to take notes. Is this is a sign of further fan obsession, or rather a warning indication that I wasn't sufficiently intrigued to stop watching?

(Since I actually went back and rewatched just to clarify certain thoughts, I suppose I'd better stick to the former.)

Not so sure how I felt about Teal'c staring down Vala when he talked about Adria; the Orispawn isn't her fault. At least not really. And let's hope that building up the Ori at the Jaffas' expense doesn't rewimpify the Jaffa.

Loved loved loved Daniel in the teaser. All excited, glasses askew... Is it sad that we have to squee when Daniel is what he used to be, because it happens so rarely? But I was brought right back to Daniel's enthusiasm about his theories re the Asgard in Thor's Hammer. Sigh. Good old days. Even after the teaser, it was great fun to see him putting the puzzle together: his knowledge of mythology and crossing from one language to the next to figure it out. That's the Daniel we all know and love. I hope we see him more often.

OTOH, was Vala acting as Daniel's secretary over there? Tell me he had bookmarks or something, please, and not that she knew exactly what he needed and was dutifully handing them over as required. That idea is kinda, well, yuck. (I looked back again. He *did* have bookmarks. But Vala as seccy is still yuck.)

Quite pleased to see that one of the first things Sam told us was that the attempt to dial the Supergate didn't work. Would have been even more satisfactory if the attempt had failed in last season's cliffhanger, so that it would've simply added more tension instead of irritability at the apparent huge gaping plot-hole in last week's episode.

I was soooo smug when Landry slapped Vala down. Nope, she's done *nothing* to deserve being put on SG-1. I grant she's heavily involved, both for what happened in the Ori galaxy and her status as Adria's mom, but that's it. Still want her trailed by SFs. I'm willing to give them the next 36 minutes to change my mind, but...

Huh. Not sure how I feel about Daniel's going to bat for her. The parallels to Teal'c don't really work, do they? While Teal'c was instrumental in kidnapping a female SF from the SGC at the beginning of COTG, everything he did at that time was because he was forced to do so. Vala has no such excuse, and, quite frankly, little indication of any moral base. As I mentioned last week, it would be kinda nice if she actually apologized. OTOH, this is Daniel, who has an amazing ability to see beyond the obvious. (Serpent's Song, anyone?) Still want that apology, but still willing to see what happens.

Okay, Vala having Daniel's password is Hee! material. And so is Mitchell dragging Daniel into the Gateroom by his backpack.

By making Daniel explain to Teal'c about Morgan Le Fay, it actually comes across as needed explanation rather than needless exposition. Nice touch.

Watching Vala start off the psych eval wasn't funny, it was cringe-inducing. Talk about trying too hard - she was rattling off buzzwords like Deanna Troi. I like the way Hutchison let her keep babbling on and digging herself deeper. The only redeeming factor about this is her apparent need to be out there and doing something - I like what that says about her desire to help. With Vala, redeeming bits must be actively sought. I'd be happier if they hadn't given Hutchison nerd glasses, but this guy looks actually competent. Good.

Ouch, ouch. Dr. Rimer was Malakai from WoO. I know SG-1 tends to recycle their guest stars, but a prominent one from such a popular episode...? Not too brilliant. I'm one of those fans who like to keep the fourth wall completely solid. Having a guest star that I immediately recognize as someone else completely destroys the fun for me.

While I like the more focused Mitchell, it irritates me that his lines seem to be the same that would have been written for Jack. This was particularly noticeable when he was reading the medication labels.

Why did they keep letting people wander off without a buddy to help keep them awake?

"The only thing Dr. Hutchison is suffering from is the headache you gave him." Hee! Go Landry!

During that whole scene with Woolsey, I was hoping that his offer was part of the psych evaluation. I've had this bizarre liking for Woolsey ever since Scourge, when he was limping through the forest with his shirttail sticking out. It was definitely the shirttail that did it for me. I hope I'll turn out to be right, especially because that final zinger of his was something Vala needed to hear and recognize that it was high time she grew past it. And apologize. I've mentioned that once or twice, haven't I?

And I liked Hutchison a lot when he told Vala, "You're doing fine," re the lying. Sooo glad she's being shown she's a lot more transparent than she might think.

Teal'c was great. Love Teal'c. Stubborn to the last, never give up, my tretonin may not be a symbiote but I'm still the mojo-carrying, way better than you humans Teal'c. Happy sigh, indeed. :)

Vala's little burst of temper? First honest words from her. Good for Hutchison for recognizing that. And I like her allusion to Daniel's respect, even though I, personally, haven't seen any such respect on Daniel's part yet. Sigh. This is another one of those "we're expected to believe a lot of character development took place off-screen" things, isn't it? Now, if Vala had said she'd finally met someone who made her want to be a better person, that would've made a lot more sense. And would fit verrry nicely into what many many people discover about themselves upon meeting Daniel.

Sam and Daniel keeping each other awake... Teamy goodness = happy sigh. In fact, such teamy goodness, with Sam and Daniel looking after each other and Teal'c and Mitchell trying (albeit failing) to do the same, that it merits two happy sighs.

Plothole alert: how did the SGC *know* that the guys needed help? Miss a check-in? A little info would be helpful. Nice scene with Sam's voice fading as she went into the iso pod - very well directed, that.

Okay, okay, I'm quite pleasantly surprised at how... acceptable that was. Yes, Woolsey was a test, and Vala's little dig back was fun. And yes, she's on probation! Not a member of SG-1. Good work, guys. I have to admit, though, that when Mitchell asked how she was going to pay, I fully expected her to say that she had Daniel's credit cards. :) But why don't Vala and Sam ever actually have any real dialogue?

Still no apology, though. That irritates. Considerably. In fact, the lack of apology, the lack of any clear regret on Vala's part for what she's put Daniel through, makes that scene with Landry even more annoying on reflection. How can we be expected to believe that Daniel thinks Vala is reformed, in any way, when she hasn't even had the decency to ask his forgiveness?

Very very pleased that there's no apparent romantic bits between Daniel and Vala and really really hope it stays that way.

Wrap-up was too fast, but at least their nearly fatal side-trip dug up something - the clue to Atlantis. FINALLY our boy is going to Atlantis. And I'm going to have to wait for a month to find out how it goes... :( I just really hope that my total disinterest in SGA is not going to affect how much I can enjoy next week's ep. Surely I'm not the only SG-1 fan out there with no interest in SGA? Let's hope TPTB are going to be savvy enough to make the story enjoyable for fans like me while adding extra tidbits for those that follow both shows, rather than leaving us pure SG-1 only fans floundering around looking for Cliff's Notes.

And I still want my SG-1 wormhole effect back.
