So, a year ago tomorrow, twenty of us got together and wrote one long birthday note of love to [livejournal.com profile] abyssinia4077: Defining Sam from A to Z. (While we're at it, since I won't be online tomorrow: Happy birthday, Abyssis!) The enthusiastic response inspired the creation of an entire series: Alphabet Soup, most often joined with SG-1 Gen Fic Day. To date, we've done five of these, one for each member of classic SG-1 and one for George Hammond.

This time, it's Janet's turn!

Timing is going to be a little difficult to work out, as there are many active ficathons at the moment. I am currently aiming for Janet Alphabet Soup and Gen Fic Day to take place some time in mid-May. In the meantime, though, I am issuing a call for prompts. You won't commit yourself to anything if you contribute keywords here; they're just to help inspire others when the sign-up post eventually gets posted.

[livejournal.com profile] cleothemuse e-mailed me, as a gentle subtle hint, some suggested keywords of her own. :) I've included those below the cut to give you an idea of what sort of prompts we're looking for. Feel free to comment with as many suggestions as you'd like! If you want to add more, please make a new comment instead of editing your original.

A - AED, Air Force
B - Band-Aid, bandage

*jumps up and down with squee* I love me a good alphabet soup!
Thursday, March 19th, 2009 04:46 pm (UTC)
I have so much adoration for that icon. :D

I kid you not I was shopping at Wal-mart for oatmeal, and saw the box. Immediately I went into super-geek mode and after sitting there debating to buy the cereal because of your then-upcoming ficathon while giggling to myself like the complete-queen-of-geeks I am for a full five minutes, I just took a snapshot of it with my camera. (I didn't think I could eat that much sugar to justify the purchase!) I wouldn't have thought twice about it if we weren't having a Jack Alpha-Bits at the same time. Oh what fandom does to me!! (other than clearing out my wallet for DVD goodness)
Thursday, March 19th, 2009 08:53 pm (UTC)
Ah, what fandom does to all of us! :)
Thursday, March 19th, 2009 12:13 pm (UTC)
Yay! Another soup! Woohoo! Must go ponder some prompts.
Thursday, March 19th, 2009 04:47 pm (UTC)
Excellent!
Thursday, March 19th, 2009 04:29 pm (UTC)
Oh yeah!! I love Janet, and as usual, will be stalking you until you finally post the sign-up entry. :)

How about medic, birthday cake (Cassie's), mother (or mother of a teenager), daughter, adoption, nurses, death, friend

These are just suggestions. If I think of more, I'll let you know.
Thursday, March 19th, 2009 04:48 pm (UTC)
All great keywords!

The sign-up post will probably be some time in April, so it's probably best not to hold your breath in the meantime. ;) I just couldn't let the Alphabet Soup anniversary pass unnoticed!
Thursday, March 19th, 2009 04:53 pm (UTC)
The sign-up post will probably be some time in April

Which is good because I have few ficathon stories that are piling up in my personal writing queue. Janet will be a welcome additon though! :D
Thursday, March 19th, 2009 04:57 pm (UTC)
Heh, yes. That's why I'm pushing it off that long myself. [livejournal.com profile] jacksamfriends and [livejournal.com profile] phoenix_gate and the Teal'c ficathon and eeeep!

...So, yeah. Signups in April, Alphabet Soup in May. :)
Thursday, March 19th, 2009 05:10 pm (UTC)
Hahaha! Much icon love going on right now! :) So true.
Thursday, March 19th, 2009 08:45 pm (UTC)
[livejournal.com profile] thraesja made it for me. Is it not delicious? :D
Thursday, March 19th, 2009 05:17 pm (UTC)
Whee!

Triage and CDC? (she used to work for the CDC right?)
Thursday, March 19th, 2009 07:25 pm (UTC)
That was Carolyn Lam.
Thursday, March 19th, 2009 09:12 pm (UTC)
Ahh thank you! I got that from a fannish reference perhaps?
Thursday, March 19th, 2009 08:46 pm (UTC)
Y'know, I'm beginning to wonder if there's (gasp!) FANON involved :) because I also had this conviction that Janet was an expert in exotic diseases before coming to the SGC, and I just checked the transcipt of Broca Divide, when she first appears. Nothin'.

And now I really, really want to know... :)
Thursday, March 19th, 2009 09:10 pm (UTC)
Me too. I'm sure she is an expert in exotic diseases and I know I read that somewhere "official" but looks like the CDC thing is fanon. You are the master of sniffing out the canon from the fanon, though... *looks innocent*
Friday, March 20th, 2009 02:41 am (UTC)
Might have been in Bane? I don't have time to check it right now, though.
Friday, March 20th, 2009 07:42 am (UTC)
Oh, sure. Give me yet ANOTHER topic. :)
Thursday, March 19th, 2009 06:34 pm (UTC)
Oh, let's see

B - Blood

M - motherhood, military

O - Officer

R - Rank

S - SG-1

T - 2010
Thursday, March 19th, 2009 08:49 pm (UTC)
Hee! Oh, I love your T one! If you don't mind, though, I'm going to revise it to Time (2010) to make it more alphabet-y. :)
Friday, March 20th, 2009 03:01 am (UTC)
no problem!
Thursday, March 19th, 2009 07:27 pm (UTC)
I hereby claim "A". Wait... what do you mean, this isn't the claims post? *sigh*
Thursday, March 19th, 2009 08:44 pm (UTC)
Well, it's not as if you didn't offer enough prompts of your own already. ;)
Friday, March 20th, 2009 12:08 am (UTC)
Oh no. "A" is a horrible letter for you. Srsly, it does not look good on you at all. Really. It, um... clashes with your hair. :D

*le sigh* I guess I need to start thinking about another letter, huh??
Friday, March 20th, 2009 12:19 am (UTC)
Or I do... may the fastest claimer win! :D
Thursday, March 19th, 2009 08:44 pm (UTC)
a - allergies, antihistamines, antibiotics
h - hormones, husband
i - infection, isolation
t - Touched virus

(Just realized which letters I've got--'A hit, a palpable hit!' *snicker* It's possible I'm punchy-tired. Just possible. *sigh*)
Thursday, March 19th, 2009 08:51 pm (UTC)
Well, Janet is good at aiming. ;) Although Hamlet could've used a few good anti-depressants, I suppose!
Thursday, March 19th, 2009 11:38 pm (UTC)
How about: compassion, defibrillator, brain scan, scar tissue, bed pan, neurological anomaly, occipital contusion, "Doc, whatever you do, don't move." phobic reaction to ?"
That's all I got.
Friday, March 20th, 2009 12:11 am (UTC)
neurological anomaly, occipital contusion,

Say what?? *g*
Friday, March 20th, 2009 06:18 am (UTC)
They all look good to me, even if some of them are a tad on the long side. :)
Friday, March 20th, 2009 04:40 am (UTC)
Antihistimines, androids, allergies, armbands

CMO, consciousnesses

divorce, death

footholds, firearms

metal health, Mackinzie, Maybourne, memorials

oaths

Urgo

And if 2010 is in there, it would be so cool to add other numbers, like 666.

Friday, March 20th, 2009 06:19 am (UTC)
Cool, yes. Not quite sure how to make them part of alphabet soup, though. :) I'm revising the 2010 to T is for Time (2010) - or someone might want to use the prompt for A Matter of Time, who knows?
Friday, March 20th, 2009 08:10 am (UTC)
I love Alphabet soups... but my brain is fried, I have no idea's for anything and the Sam/Jack friendathon is coming up so I'm going to sit this one out.

I will squee and enjoy when it's all finished I promise!
Tuesday, March 24th, 2009 11:13 am (UTC)
Heh, yes - that is EXACTLY why I've made this AFTER the Sam-Jack friendathon goes live. I need time, too!
Saturday, March 21st, 2009 12:04 am (UTC)
