What is about someone podficcing a story you wrote that inspires such absolute squee?

reena_jenkins has done an absolutely fabulous podfic for my Softly Through the Seasons. It's just under nine minutes long and she takes my words and makes them sound so much better! Her post is here, with a link to the file.

abyssinia4077 asked for podfic: one of my stories or a story you know I like or you think I'd like. She also asked for Sam/Daniel. Ship. Friendship. Fic. Vid. Rec List. Wallpaper. Wrapped up in a bow and delivered on my front porch. Whatever. However. So I put the two requests together and did a podfic of one of my own stories: A Gift of Consolation, which is Sam and Daniel friendship and was actually written for Abyssis' birthday in the first place. :)

Taking the plunge - and finding quiet time! - was a little scary, but I think I'm pleased with the result. I'd love feedback as to clarity of words, pacing, and so forth. If this is actually good, I'd like to try my hand at this again - one of Abyssis' own stories, maybe?

The original fic is here. The podfic is 4 meg zipped, 11.1 meg unzipped, and 12:13 minutes long. You can download the podfic here, although I also intend to submit this to Audiofic, which offers permanent hosting of podfics. Because there are lots of awesome people in fandom. :)
