Here's the last of the fannish five meme! [personal profile] hooloovoo_42 asked for either my five top "Jaaaaaack!" "Daaaaaniel!" moments, or the top five times Sam "builds a whizzy gizmo to save the day." Since I've already featured Daniel (with plenty of Jack), I chose to do the Sam one. Here we go!

1. Torment of Tantalus, when everything was new and confused and Sam still figured out how to play Benjamin Franklin and get enough power to the Stargate to get them all home from Heliopolis. Don't you love watching them again when they were all so young?

2. Is it cheating if the Sam in question is really Robot!Sam? As saddened as all of us are at the deaths of all of Robot!SG-1 in Double Jeopardy, I'm grateful that their Sam was able to create the portable power pack that allowed them to go off-world for a day at a time, and gave them a little freedom before the end.

3. Yes, Sam does figure out how to MacGuyver the gizmo to short-circuit all the Foothold aliens' holograms. But that's pretty routine for her, isn't? I think it's a favorite moment simply because it's part of the all-out glee of Sam in the episode - with, of course, one of her best lines ever: "Maybourne, you are an idiot every day of the week! Why couldn't you have taken just one day off?" Hee hee hee. Go Sam!

4. I love the Sam of Learning Curve who stubbornly refuses Merrin's help in order to figure out how to make the Orban's naquadah reactor work with Earth materials all on her own! Considering how often naquadah reactors would come into play throughout the series, this is probably one of her biggest triumphs.

5. Despite McKay's sneers in 48 Hours - some of which, to be fair, might have very well been justified - Sam's marrying of Terran technology with the Stargate was absolutely fabulous. Whether it's making the dialing computer work or syncing a laptop to a DHD (which cracks me up every time), Sam's ability to make computer chips interface with Goa'uld crystals or Ancient tech is always a reason to cheer!

My other fannish fives are here and here. Thanks to everyone for playing - this was a lot of fun! :)
