Finally. FINALLY, after being stalled for two solid weeks at the halfway point, my
sd_ficathon has been packed off to the beta reader!
I will have to consider this a practical lesson; this is my first ficathon, after all. But next time I do something like this on a deadline, I am going to stick to the "1,000 word minimum" ballpark figure instead of allowing Sam and Daniel to whap me over the head with my keyboard and run off gleefully with the plotline, leaving me stuck with a fic that clocks in at over 17,000 words before my wonderful beta gets her hands on it. I'm all for long stories, and I'm cautiously pleased with the results, but not when the fic is due five days for now!
Still need a title. My titles either leap into my brain before the first paragraph gets written or sulk in a corner, refusing to come out.
How about you, my fellow Sam and Daniel fans? Have the Wonder Twins waylaid you, or do you think you'll be ready to post on the 15th?

See I learned my lesson after the first two ficathons. I'm sticking smaller (though it's still longer than I'd like. I'm STILL not to the pivotal scene of the story yet at 2,600 words! (heh, see, small is still relative for me). I'd say I'm over half done and the rest is pretty put together in my head. Hope to make more progress today.
But at least Sam and Daniel are cooperating. The scenes that haven't been working have been trimmed, cut or remangled so it's something looking more like the cute idea first invisioned in my head rather than the crazy folly it was becoming. [bad wandering muse!]

Ah, you've got experience with this! No wonder you know better, although I distinctly recall your Az'heni being on the longish side, too.
How did you get Sam and Daniel to cooperate? Silly wonder twins. :)

::whispers:: Actually, I threatened them with those polka-dot pink elephants. That got them in line. LOL
Did you see? Deadline is delayed a week! Whee! Er, I mean, sorry to hear about that for your sake, fig. [whispers]whee[/whispers]

Thank God we got another week.

Or a crack!fic, which wouldn't be so bad, either. :)
And I say yay! for the deadline, because it will let me play with tweaking intead of shoving it out into the cold without buttoning it up securely.
...Er. Lost my metaphor, there.

Tell Sam to whip up some kind of brain-to-computer direct interface!

You did see we get another week, right? Yay for time to tweak!

Yes I saw that we had another week. I will definantlty have it done by then.=)

I've done, um, three ficathons before this one and have definitely gone over the limit (though only to about 5000 and 9000 words none of your crazy 17,000 :) ). So I totally understand.
*hands you gold star for finishing*
My Wonder Twins are still being evil. They apparently don't like the plot I want to shove them into because they aren't playing nice At All. Which is dumb, because usually they behave so well. I think they're just crabby because I wrote them a long, angsty fic in April and they don't want to play again so soon or something...
All I can say is thank god for the extra week.

You are evil, you know that?
And I followed your metaphor fine. :-D
P.S. Az'heni is what taught me to never go overly long on a ficathon again (though you'd think the FOUR part Teal'c one should've clued me in, LOL). But your story sounds super awesome. I love reading long fics...and medium fics, and short fics. :-D

I think I'm sensing a trend, here.
Oh, c'mon. Pink polka-dotted elephants in a serious fic. With Sam and Daniel. You can dooooo eeeet.... :)

Also, mine is already quite a bit longer than the 1,000 word thing. Arrgh!
And titles! Bah! Though my working title is probably okay this time.
Fortunately, the Wonder Twins have been talking to me, but I find it well nigh impossible to write during the week because my brain is burned out from work.

I just got mine back from 2 very very thorough betas :D
Yay for the extension! 'cos now I can really tweak it and make it shine.

This extra week is giving everyone time to enjoy it. I'm so glad we got it!

Still, it's a step in the right direction. And YES! Yay for the extension! Now I can hopefully make it good. :)
