Soooo, one of my personal favorite humor ficlets is Team Effort, written for [personal profile] lokei, in which Daniel defies expectations (as he does). And now it has been podficced, wheeeee!

Podfic of Team Effort, by Aether

Thank you, Aether, for totally making my day week. :) :)

First fic in two years! A contribution to the still-incomplete Alphabet Soup!

No, this is not an alternate universe. :)

Summary: In the post-mission briefing after Maternal Instinct, Daniel insists that he needs to make one more trip through the Stargate.

Jack POV, angst level high. Team, Hammond and Bra'tac. ~1,150 words. Rated PG.

Author's notes: Possibly apocryphally, Ernest Hemingway was challenged to write a six-word story. The result was this fic's title.

For Off-Screen Missions Alphabet Soup: the aborted mission at the beginning of Solitudes. Daniel's annoyed at wearing a helmet, but it turns out to be a very good thing. ~1,100 words. Rated G.

For [personal profile] ivorygates, who gave me the prompt: Teal'c, "You can't go home again." Four times Teal'c walked away from home, and the many times that he didn't. Includes references to Teal'c's arc throughout the show, and specific references to COTG, Affinity, and Unending. Just over 2,000 words.

I played around with tenses and narrative voice, but it's all Teal'c's POV.

Summary: If quantum is the smallest possible bit of a thing that retains that thing’s essential qualities, how (or what) might define a quantum mirror? 780 words.

Author's Note: Written for the poor Quantum Mirror Alphabet Soup, which is still, even after this, four letters short of completion. Yes, that would be the Soup that should have ended three months ago.

I don't often write what I think some people would call "metafic," but this probably qualifies. Many thanks to Ivorygates for the beta, the suggestions, and the shamelessly stolen summary!

Also, please bear in mind that this is probably Stargate-level science competence, if that much. :)

Written for Quantum Mirror Alphabet Soup, which will be live through November and still has available letters for claiming (hint hint).

Summary: An alternate perspective on certain scenes from TBFTGOG: Teal'c cares more about his reality than any other. 1,600 words. PG for canonical AU character deaths.

Summary: Off-world universities, solar power, and a riddle of the ages… SG-1 have a mystery to solve.

Notes: Written for the [community profile] stargate_summer Reverse Big Bang, and inspired by [personal profile] roeskva's stunning original artwork. Thank you, Roeskva, for such a gorgeous piece!

Takes place at the end of S2, after 1969. Lots of references to The Fifth Race and a certain episode of S1. I used Stargate-level science (that is, I mostly found information on Wiki or made it up entirely), and it is a grand old tradition to write Sherlock Holmes Stargate style "homages" pastiches.

Many thanks to Aelfgyfu for her careful beta skills, helpful suggestions, and title assistance.

This story can also be read at AO3.

I just posted my 50th fic to AO3, starting from back in 2007 with my very first SG-1 story and going forwards, one fic a day (more or less) at a time. I'm only halfway through 2009 now. Good grief, I used to be prolific.

It's been an interesting experience so far. I am charmed by the statistics page and it's interesting to see how some fics are better received now than when they were first posted (and vice versa). Getting kudos e-mails are fun, because I can tell when one person is browsing through my stories, and it's certainly a nice way to start my morning. :) I can't make up my mind about kudos themselves; are they a plus, because it's nice feedback that you wouldn't get otherwise? Or a minus, because less people bother with actual comments? Or a combination of both, which is probably the reality.

Also, old friends rereading my old stories and commenting on occasion are an absolute joy.

In any case, it's nice to reach a milestone like 50. :) My next fic up will be on Sunday, and that will be my [community profile] stargate_summer fic and I am SO EXCITED to have written something new and substantive, finally.

Last, last minute-contribution to Kidfic Alphabet Soup, because I want to get it up already!

Baby Shifu has a limited comprehension of what's happening to him. Vague references to Secrets, FIAD, and Maternal Instinct. 262 words. Rated G.

Backup contribution to Kidfic Alphabet Soup! Also, I believe this is the first time I have actually had Jack use a certain expression. It certainly seemed to fit this time.

Five times SG-1 had to accept an unusual perspective of childhood and adulthood. Jack POV, set in Seasons 1 & 2. Includes detailed spoilers for Brief Candle, the Nox, and Thor's Chariot. 2,250 words. Rated PG-13 for certain details involving Brief Candle.

A contribution to Kidfic Alphabet Soup. As usual, Daniel took control and went in unexpected directions. He's good at that. :) This came out as much meta-ish as fic-ish, I think.

Summary: Few people expect the former First Prime to be so good with children, but SG-1 knows that Teal'c has vast and unexpected depths. A Daniel retrospective on a friend. References various episodes throughout the series (mostly those with kids). 1,710 words. Rated PG.

Kidfic Alphabet Soup is scheduled for the end of the month, but we still don't have anywhere near enough cooks yet. You can sign up on LJ or DW, as you prefer. Signal boosts are appreciated, too!

"Kidfic" has so many connotations, doesn't it? Many people's minds instantly leap to the "downsizing" type of fic, and if that's your taste, that's fine. :) But there are also other types. Here's one of a very different flavor, as a way to offer an appetizer for the Soup. (Also, a way to do some WRITING for a change, okay. Plus a little distraction from RL, which I think a lot of us need right now.) It didn't go where I expected, but eh, that's par for the course when I'm writing SG-1. So be warned of an unexpected dose of Jack angst ahead. Oh, and that bingo card that I've been trying to fill for more than two years now? This should fit nicely in Ambiguous.

Summary: Appearances can be deceiving, as the team knows all too well. ~1,200 words. PG.

Written for Gen Fic Day and Epistolary Alphabet Soup, for whatever letter needs filling. :)

Letters don't always survive long enough to be read. References/spoilers for Secrets, Fair Game, and Forever in a Day; includes references to Daniel/Sha're. 1,330 words. Rated PG.

Written as backup for Off-World Alphabet Soup, and quite likely to undergo a title change when I find out which letter actually needs to be backed up. :)

...Yes, the title has been changed. It was originally "Judgment Day." Both titles fit, I think, although the emphasis in each is different. Perhaps the current one is a bit more hopeful, though.

The problem with amnesia is that memories aren't always in context. Missing scene from Fallen in Sam POV as the team tries to deal with Daniel's self-doubt. Includes references to certain episodes from S1 and S4. ~ 2,100 words. Rated PG.

Written for Time Travel Alphabet Soup, and rather unimaginatively titled. In a missing scene from Moebius, Sam argues with Daniel, or maybe with herself. 800 words. Rated PG, with a warning for canonical major character deaths.

I wanted to squeeze in at least one more fic this year, so here's another entry for my bingo card. The central square is marked Wild Card. Technically, you're supposed to be able to swap it with another square on your card. I chose to take it literally. :)

When Jack introduces Teal'c to Star Wars, he never imagines how obsessed his friend will become. Set immediately after 1969 with a few vague spoilers. ~1,400 words. Rated G.

Meditation isn't kel no reem, but it serves a purpose just the same. Teal'c and Daniel friendship, with references to Crossroads, Meridian, Revelations, and Changeling. ~1,410 words. PG.
