Three happy SG-1 things in the last few days:
1. The
sg1friendathon already has two people who have completed their fics and submitted them! The response overall has been enthusiastic, and even with the expectation that a few people will probably drop out before the deadline, I am delighted to see that gen fic is still alive and well.
(And hey, you can still sign up if you want -- just keep in mind that you're committing yourself to finishing by July 31st.)
2. Speaking of gen fic still being alive and well, yesterday I recced my seventh hundred SG-1 fic, archived over at
figs_sg1_rec. \0/ Go fandom!
3. In Memoria has been nominated for a Gatefic award. My warmest thanks to whomever it was (or were) who thought my story worth nominating. :)
So instead of finishing the angsty ficlet that's been peculating in my mind, I want happy gen drabble prompts from all of you! I'll commit to ten, but the more you give me the better. I'll only do one prompt per person (put them all in a single comment, please), but it's more fun to have the extra variety. Classic team is more likely to get a response than new team, but feel free to leave whatever prompts interest you most.
(We did six months ago -- here are the prompts, and here's the final result.)

Happy gen ideas? How about a moment between Sam and her dad after "The Tok'ra 2"? That must have been a happy moment :)

She thought back to how ill he'd looked as the cancer ate away at his vitality -- the yellowish skin, the constant coughing, pain so evident in his movements. His frailty had been an insult to the strong, stubborn man he'd always been.
Now, in joyful contrast, Sam watched Jacob striding down the ramp: alert, healthy, whole.
She reached out and hugged him fiercely. "Looking good, Dad," she whispered.

For a prompt, hmmm ... Siler gets to go offworld.

Oooh, Siler. That's a fun idea. Let's see what I can come up with.
Could I ask you to add a link to this entry in the fanworks post you just put up? By next week, it'll be kinda academic.

The power of Siler!
"Sir, we need Sergeant Siler." A long pause, a strangled cough, then, "With his big wrench, please."
Mystified, General Hammond gave the go-ahead, and Siler walked through the Stargate for the first time.
The orange natives took one look and fell to their knees, wailing. Only Siler's habitual impassivity saved him from gaping.
"It's the wrench," Daniel explained, laughing openly. "It looks exactly like their most sacred totem. Now, with the power of Siler on our side, we can go rescue Jack and Teal'c."
Re: The power of Siler!
And what a totem! *g*
Re: The power of Siler!
This is where the drabble format does constrict you - the original version had Daniel trying very hard (and failing) not to laugh through the MALP and Siler gearing up utterly unflappable and his complete deadpanness as they tramp through the clutching-at-Siler aliens to go get the guys. Sadly, it was way over the limit...

Siler wins everything.

As for happy times... let's have Daniel and Nyan. And mythology-based humor.

Nyan looked up from his textbook.
"Daniel...?"
Still bent over his own work, Daniel mumbled, "Yeah?"
"I know I have much to learn about Earth mythology."
"Mmmm."
"But this --" Nyan gestured helplessly.
Finally noticing his distress, Daniel got up to peer over Nyan's shoulder. One quick glance was enough.
"Relax, Nyan." Daniel patted his shoulder comfortingly. "Nefertum and Nefertiti do sound similar, but there's no mythological drift there. Nefertiti was a real person."
"But Nefertum -- at least the Goa'uld -- was real, too," Nyan objected.
"Well, yeah." Daniel suddenly grinned. "Only Nefertiti is still worshipped today -- in the cosmetics world, anyway."

As for Teal'c and makeup, you might want to snicker your way through this fic. :)
