...okay, they don't really. But that's what sprang instantly to mind. :)
redial_the_gate does eight or nine redial international chats every season. They take place on Friday nights (which is why I don't participate, although to be honest, I probably couldn't manage it at other times, either). Essentially, everyone logs onto a chatroom and then presses "play" for the featured episode simultaneously. The chat is filled with much snark and glee, and the logs are subsequently posted to the comm for everyone to enjoy.
The next one is this week, actually - Fail Safe on September 4th!
Then I read an article in The Washington Post, which includes the following paragraphs:
Now, I don't follow Twitter, but the potential here is deliciously huge. That's like watching your favorite Stargate ep on DVD and, instead of hearing live commentary on the second audio stream, actually seeing the tweets from PDL or whoever appearing on the bottom of the screen as they watch along with you at the same time!
And then it hit me - that's redial international chat. Wheeeee! :)
Because we are just that awesome, and Fox network totally stole it from us. ::nods firmly::
(Yes, I know we didn't make up the idea out of whole cloth. I know about MST3K and I've seen it in other fandoms, too. I didn't tag this "stargate sg-1 silliness" for nothing.)
There is no real point to this post, except perhaps to prove that I am too easily amused. :) But how about commenting here with the kind of tweets that you think the team (or Janet, or Siler, or whoever) would Twitter if they were watching an ep of SG-1?
DanielJackson @Stargate #BeastofBurden my hair looked like that? why didn't someone tell me to comb my hair?
JackO'Neill @Stargate #BeastofBurden you were armed with a zat, i couldn't risk it
Hope I got the format of that right - as I said, I don't do Twitter. But you get the idea. :)

The television network will be airing old episodes for two of its shows, Fringe and Glee, with Twitter commentary along the bottom of the screen. But no, sadly, not just anyone can tweet anything and have it be on national television, these will be moderated streams. And most of the it will be taken up by the tweets of the two shows' casts and producers, apparently.
During the episodes, the cast members and producers will be watching and tweeting live. Fans be able to see their tweets on the bottom portion of their television screens or can follow along on Twitter itself by checking out the FRINGEonFOX and GLEEonFOX Twitter accounts. Select tweets from fans following along will be put on air.
