The [livejournal.com profile] sg1friendathon officially opened its doors today! We're open for prompts, right here, for the next week. I hope we'll get lots and lots of good ones, to inspire lots and lots of great fic! Even if you don't plan to write for the ficathon, do leave prompts - the more choices, the more fun it will be.

On the subject of Alphabet Soup (as Redbyrd and Aurora called it, I think), I want to once again thank all the contributors to Defining Sam from A to Z. I believe that many of you, if not all of you, have reposted your individual ficlets on your own LJs. If you'll comment here with the links, I would love to be able to add the archive links to the main post so that readers can comment on their favorite ficlets in the author's own LJ.

And that leads straight to my next topic: SG-1 Gen Fic Day. For those of you who have friended me in the last several weeks (and hi!), SG-1 Gen Fic Day started back in October, when I was frustrated at the lack of gen fic. We celebrated Gen Fic Day again in January, to commemorate my 300th SG-1 rec.

Now it's time for another SG-1 Gen Fic Day, because next Wednesday, April 2nd, will be my second anniversary as a regular reccer over at [livejournal.com profile] stargateficrec, and it's as good an excuse as any! :)

So here's how it works: on Wednesday, April 2nd, I'll create a post for Gen Fic Day. People are welcome to write commentfic, leave recs, and link to new completed works or even WIPs - anything, as long as it's gen. In addition, I'd like to try and run another round of Alphabet Soup - this time on Daniel (for some odd reason, heh), to be due on Gen Fic Day and posted in the comments. On April 3rd, I'll post a round-up for Gen Fic Day and a separate Alphabet Soup post with everything in alphabetical order.

If you want to take part in Gen Fic Day by writing regular comment fic or finishing a gen fic or linking to your latest WIP or reccing your favorite gen story, fantastic! I look forward to seeing what you've got on April 2nd. Even if your only participation will be spreading the word to your own flis, that's helpful too. :)

If you want to try your hand at Daniel-style Alphabet Soup, though, comment here and claim a letter. Only one letter for the moment, please! I am going to arbitrarily snag A for Abydos (stop sniggering, Aurora and Abyssis) but will generously leave the rest of it open for all comers. :) I've included a few keywords as suggestions, but if you claim a letter, you get to choose what keyword to use. Do remember, though, that this is for Gen Fic Day, so no shipping - not even my darling Sha're, alas! Although if someone wants to do S for Sha're or Sha'uri and touch upon the movie or her struggle with Amaunet or something that's not Daniel/Sha're specific, I'm really, really not going to complain...

The minimum count per ficlet is 100 words. I'm not going to try a maximum this time. :)

Don't apologize for your enthusiasm! And D for Death is deliciously appropriate... :)
