Finally, finally...!

I know (or at the very least, hope) that Random will tear this apart. But to have it done is an overwhelming relief, because Teal'c and Daniel would just. not. cooperate!

It amuses me that the - well, body of the fic is just over 1,000 words. That, however, does not take the 5,000 word prologue into account... :)

Now I get to write up the detailed explanation for how everyone should post their stories to the [livejournal.com profile] sg1friendathon next week! Also, Lokei has her gold star ficlet that thwapped me with a plot bunny. I have never found myself actually writing a story in order to fit Jack and Daniel's banter before, but apparently there's a first time for everything.

Wheee, Jack and Daniel banter! *grin* Looking forward to it.

I wasn't sure where would be best to mention this, and possibly I should go put it in the wheee/eee! sg1friendathon post you had up earlier, but I am happy to serve as a beta for anyone who needs a beta reader (have done a lot of beta work in other fandoms and also some professional copy editing). I also kinda need a beta for my two friendathon stories, as my lovely dependable betas are both pretty much age-of-sail only. Do you have any suggestions?

Can't wait to read your Teal'c and Daniel story...5000 words of prologue? *grin*

What a lovely offer!

Let's see, now. With your permission, I could mention your willingness to beta in the "one week to go!" post that will go up on the comm tomorrow. How's that?

(You did get tonight's e-mail, right?)

And for a beta for yourself... I'm still trying to figure out what "age-of-sail" means, but my own e-mail addy is sg1[dot]fig[at]gmail[dot]com. :)

5,000 words to get to the prompt. I am nothing if not circuitous.

Sure, you can put it in the post. I'll put up a post on my journal with screened comments where people can drop me a line with their email and I'll get in touch with them, if that works? (ETA: I've posted it here: http://lokei.livejournal.com/90872.html)

(And yes, I got tonight's email. Whoo! That's part of what reminded me I needed to get my stories beta'd. *wry grin*)

Age of Sail is the historical period from about 1500-1850, so post-Renaissance, pre-steam engine. Major fandoms include Jane Austen, Horatio Hornblower, Sharpe, Pirates of the Caribbean, Temeraire, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, etc. (Granted, those last two are a little smaller than the others, but you get the drift. No pun intended.) My two lovely AoS betas are willing to stretch a little, but neither watches Stargate so that makes it difficult on them.

In short...I would love to send you my stories--hopefully by the end of Monday? Sam's gone recalcitrant on me so I've started rewriting from Daniel's POV, but the other one's done! Thank you!

Circuitous is good. I like meandering. *grin*

Thanks so much for the beta offer! The comm post goes up later today (as in, when I get around to writing it, heh).

Thanks for the "Age of Sail" info. Is this a literary term, an historical term, or what? Always happy to learn new things... :)

Send 'em over whenever they're ready!
