Title: All This Time
Author: Fig Newton ([livejournal.com profile] sg_fignewton)
Rating: PG
Pairing: none
Word Count: ~12,000
Summary: Sam is trapped in an underground secret base with a damaged or dying teammate. This isn't what she planned for her first mission as leader of SG-1.
Warnings: Sam angst and Daniel whumping. Teal'c gets off relatively lightly.
Spoilers: Takes place during Zero Hour, with references to events in Season Six.
Disclaimer: None of them are mine. They all belong to their respective copyright holders.
Author's Note: Written for the [livejournal.com profile] sg_ep_ficathon for [livejournal.com profile] uniquinum, who wanted to know what Sam, Daniel, and Teal’c did while they were stuck in Anubis’ laboratory during Zero Hour. I suspect she wanted something light and humorous, but I'm afraid this is what wanted to be written.

[livejournal.com profile] randomfreshink has an uncanny talent for highlighting what needs to be polished and finding the plot twists buried in the story that even I didn't know were there. Thanks, Random, for being the best beta ever - even if you did encourage me to whump Daniel some more. :)

This story is divided into two sections due to LJ posting constraints, not preference. It is archived on a single page at Stargatefan.

Such a huge relief! Both stories (yes, they add up to another Ficzilla) are back from the marvelous Random's second beta and given their final buff and polish.

And posted! In secret, but posted!

I just stare at that little eye icon that means "private" and itch to make it go away... :)

For some odd reason, the story that's about 11,500 words had to be split into three posts, while the 12,000 words fic made it in two. I have no idea why it should work out that way. Formatting? Dialogue? Humor takes up more space than drama? :)

This is actually a first for me, and it's interesting that both ficathons chose this route: everyone posts their stories to the comm, or link to private-locked posts on the comm, but the posts and links don't go live until everyone has their story up. It's a great idea, frankly, because it means that no one is going to have wait two or three weeks (or months!) to finally get their story.

On the other hand, the locked posts aren't going to show up on anyone's flist when they're unlocked; they'll be two or three (or more days) behind. So what do most people intend to do? Should I modify the date, so they'll show up on the flists? (I'm not even entirely sure that modified date posts do show up on the flists.) Just make a quick FYI post when they go live with the links? What does everyone else intend to do?

And I wanted to say thank you to everyone who's given me such an entertaining discussion on the Enigma post. I love when topics drift like crazy. :)
