I have the immense privilege of tagging for [livejournal.com profile] sg1_debrief, which mostly entails skimming through the newsletter's flist in search of gen fic. (The maintainers do the really hard work, and I think the other taggers cope with a lot more volume than I do.) There's always less gen fic than ship fic, but I'm resigned to that as par for the course by now.

But what's going on here, people?

Since the 17th, there has been one gen fic posted throughout all of LJ SG-1 fandom that gets tagged for the newsletter. ONE. (Thanks for that, [livejournal.com profile] dknightshade! I don't follow the [livejournal.com profile] jack_built AU, but it was a fun snippet.)

So here's my appeal: write some gen fic today, please! It can be commentfic posted here, or a drabble on your LJ, or a snippet of your current WIP. Fic recs are good, too, like the ones posted below: here and here. Anything. Gen is the one kind of fic that embraces all aspects of the fandom, so let's have some SG-1 love!

Erm... but not that kind. :)

[And yes, I'll try to post something ficcish myself today. I can't ask for it if I don't chip in myself, right?]

ETA8: Monday, 6:45 p.m. ::smushes all ETAs together:: I've compiled a roundup of all the fantastic participants! You can find the complete list for Gen Fic Day right here.

Yes, I saw your post for COTG! And I'm so pleased that people are going to revisit older posts, too. Hope the tags and memories are proving helpful there! :) And I plan to go back and reply to your comment, because it had some nice thinky bits.

I agree that a lot of the slowdown is because fannish creativity is being directed to what's new and shiny at the moment. It doesn't mean SG-1 is going to disappear, but I'm not too surprised to see a slowdown, I guess. It was just... well. Such a long gap.

Like you, I'm monofannish. (Hee! Such a great term!) I admire people like Moonshayde and Kellifer who can write in multifandoms, but I'm going to hug my SG-1 team tightly.

...I mean, who wouldn't? :)

And ::blushes:: thanks.
