I have the immense privilege of tagging for
sg1_debrief, which mostly entails skimming through the newsletter's flist in search of gen fic. (The maintainers do the really hard work, and I think the other taggers cope with a lot more volume than I do.) There's always less gen fic than ship fic, but I'm resigned to that as par for the course by now.
But what's going on here, people?
Since the 17th, there has been one gen fic posted throughout all of LJ SG-1 fandom that gets tagged for the newsletter. ONE. (Thanks for that,
dknightshade! I don't follow the
jack_built AU, but it was a fun snippet.)
So here's my appeal: write some gen fic today, please! It can be commentfic posted here, or a drabble on your LJ, or a snippet of your current WIP. Fic recs are good, too, like the ones posted below: here and here. Anything. Gen is the one kind of fic that embraces all aspects of the fandom, so let's have some SG-1 love!
Erm... but not that kind. :)
[And yes, I'll try to post something ficcish myself today. I can't ask for it if I don't chip in myself, right?]
ETA8: Monday, 6:45 p.m. ::smushes all ETAs together:: I've compiled a roundup of all the fantastic participants! You can find the complete list for Gen Fic Day right here.

The Prior
By
Cancer
“Hallowed are the Ori. Those who follow the path of righteousness shall be raised up high.”
“Now, see, that just doesn't cut any ice with me.” Jack lent back in his chair. He tried not to think of the person, creature, whatever, sitting restrained in the chair oposite him as Daniel. But, a small voice whispered that it was possible that Daniel was still in 'there'. From the reports he had read, by Mitchell and the others, this Prior's actions weren't the normal actions of a Prior.
“Truth is elusive to those who refuse to see it with both eyes wide.”
“Huh huh.” He eyed the hands that were restrained tightly to the chair. If, from what he had read and seen in the reports, were true. The Prior, if he wished, could easily free himself. Yet he allowed himself to be restrained like this.
The milky white eyes stared slightlessly back at him. “Priors are beacons on the road to enlightenment. Pity not the blind man, for he is not hindered by the visions of this world. He will see the light before you do.”
Jack clenched his hands tightly in fists and slammed the lid on the box from which his emotions were trying to escape. He had to let the General do his work and for Jack to be sidelined. This was not Daniel, this was a creature hell bent on distroying their Galaxy. But, still, the small voice whispered to him that Daniel was in 'there'.
