Happy birthday,
crazedturkey! May Dr. Gillian's days be relatively sane and always successful. :)
I'm very pleased to announce that we've got all 26 letters of our Jack Alpha-Bits claimed! We can all look forward to some great ficlets on SG-1 Gen Fic Day. That'll be October 27th, don't forget - and even if you're not writing Alphabet Soup (or even if you are, heh), you're welcome to participate in Gen Fic Day by posting WIPs or commentfic or independent fic, or reccing your favorite gen stories, or just by reading and commenting.
And now for a meme that's been popping up on my flist in the last day or so:
Post a list of your top five fic-favorites you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most.
I didn't go back to my old LnC days - this is just SG-1 fic. And keeping it down to five fics is hard!
The Importance of Past and Future. It holds a special place in my heart as my first-ever SG-1 fic, and I'm particularly fond of how it neatly bookends Daniel - the idealistic hope of the beginning, and the devastating pragmatism of the choices he has to make in the end. Also, I am still fairly astonished that I actually won awards for it. :)
SG-1, Ninja Style. My first team fic and fluff fic. Written for a favorite person (
splash_the_cat) and one of my favorite episodes (The Serpent's Lair). It has Teal'c pwning SG-1 and ninjas. It even got podficced! Really, what's not to love?
Leitmotif. I love early team and I love outsider perspective, and this is both: Teal'c in his very early days at the SGC, contemplating freedom, Samantha Carter, and rock music.
E is for Exchanges. Because I had terrific fun writing it, and because yes, the Goa'uld must really think that the Tau'ri are telepathic. My personal favorite bit is when Sam tries to interrupt and Jack resumes the "main" argument. :)
'Tween Weft and Warp. I love this one because it was the fic I always wanted to write - Teal'c and Daniel friendship - and it gave me the chance to explore a lot of what-ifs. And the ones that are the greatest challenges tend to be the ones we love most, I think.
And I'm going to cheat and add one more: In Search of Possibilities, which I love for being my first long fic, my first plotted story that wasn't an episode rewrite, the fun of devising a puzzle to suit both Sam and Daniel together, and the challenge to try and write beliefs and ideas with which I personally strongly disagree, but felt right for the characters.

I adored rereading E is for Exchanges. That one makes me happy on a number of levels. Shall surely return to the others later, but I have to go make signage for folk toys for my Sunday program now!

And I had forgotten all about "Leitmotif" until seeing it here! Aw, Sam and Teal'c and rock songs! *squishes it*

I really am proud of that puzzle. It certainly took me long enough to work out, heh.
