Second, just a bit more proof that I see Stargate in just about everything: It's 2010, and we're predicting solar flares. Someone call the SGC and tell them to check the timeline for any stray Aschen!

The happiest of birthdays to traycer, who is a veteran chef of Alphabet Soups and is always an enthusiastic participant in fandom squee. Hope it's a great one, full of squishes and joy!

Yes, a very belated one... because I'd hoped to finish the icon prompt you gave me for your birthday. And I didn't, because what was supposed to be a light and fluffy ficlet kept expanding until I discovered an entire story lurking in there. Sigh. Okay, yes, not sigh for the story because I think it will be a fun adventure fic, but sigh that I couldn't write what I wanted. :)

How can a writer tell when a ficlet doesn't want to be a ficlet any more? In this case, it was the slow realization that all the detail I was trying to relegate to "backstory" wanted to be told. And now I have to go research flash flooding, heh. I am not sure what it says about me that this makes three stories in which weather played a part, and all three of them involve heavy rain. It must mean something, I'm sure...

Ordinarily, I simply urge people to sign up to rec at stargateficrec and leave it at that. This time, however, I would like to specifically encourage anyone who is a fan of Sam and Daniel's friendship to sign up for that specific category. It took over a year of lobbying to get Sam and Daniel their own category, and then six months after the official decision was made before the category was set up. Since then, it's been standing empty. Let's show some Sam and Daniel love (but not that way, heh) and get them some recs! :)

(I know - I'm just as much at fault, although I did rec the category this year already! I'm already signed up for Teal'c and Daniel friendship this coming month, but I'll definitely be getting in line again after that.)
