Vid rec: OneofAradia

Whew, it's been a long time since I did a vid rec post! I went back and browsed my older vid recs - sadly, many of the web pages have been moved or removed since then. Sigh.

OneofAradia made two of my absolute favorite vids: From Zero to Hero and Giant. I recced these back in 2007, but the website was down even as I recced them. I asked if anyone had alternate links, but got no takers.

Then I saw [livejournal.com profile] oneofaradia posting at [info]stargate_summer last week. It wasn't unreasonable to assume that it was the same person. :) Sure enough, I clicked over to her LJ and wheee! I found the link to her new website!

Here's the SG-1 section. I will warmly repeat my recs for Zero to Hero, a fantastic Daniel vid that features both Shanks!Daniel and Spader!Daniel, and Giant, which is a marvelous tribute to the team, Janet, and Hammond in the face of adversity (aka the Goa'uld). I'll also add another rec: I am Woman, which celebrates the strong women featured on Stargate. This list is impressive: the vid includes not only regulars like Sam and Janet and semi-regulars like Catherine Langford, Cassie, and Lya, but also Gairwyn, Hailey, Markov, Elizabeth Weir, Shau'nac, Anise, Satterfield, Astor, Major Gant, Marcy Wells... and even Sha're, who rarely gets mentioned on those few vids that feature Stargate's women. (Interesting that Oma and Drey'auc are left out, hmmm.)

There are lots of other vids there, too -- team and Daniel and Jack, plus Jack and Daniel (for both goggle styles) and even some Sam/Daniel. Go and browse and enjoy!

PSA: 2007 Stargate Music Video Awards voting is closing!

The people who run the Stargate Music Video Awards have got to find a way of getting the word out. I just stumbled across this. Voting started on the 9th and ends today.

Go here to get to the nominees - there are links to SG-1 vids, SGA vids, and crossovers.

There's no way to do these justice, but I'll try to watch at least one or two categories' worth so I can vote. (No prize for guessing which ones, heh.)

Spread the word to your flist! Music video makers spend hours upon hours for a few minutes of beauty and motion. They deserve recognition and praise for their wonderful work.

Vid rec: Teal'c and Daniel!

I discovered something today that I was positive didn't exist: not one, but two Teal'c and Daniel friendship music vids!

Since I'm reccing that category this month, I find that delightfully apropos. :)

Both of these are by [livejournal.com profile] nel_ani, and are the first and third vids at this link:

My Favorite Game. The lyrics to this one are a bit shippy for my personal tastes, but superbly done. Great leadup from Teal'c's initial involvement in Sha're's abduction, all the way through Avatar.

Whisper. Oooh, this one is good. Angst and grief and support and determination and back again. Fantastic matching of music and lyrics to the scenes, and delightfully representative of the sheer dichotomy of Teal'c and Daniel's friendship.  Nel highlights some of the best Teal'c and Daniel moments throughout the first seven seasons of the show.

My faith is restored! Yes! I do believe there are more Teal'c and Daniel friendship fics to be found out there - or will be written - and maybe more vids like these two fantastic ones, too!

Music Video Recs: Happy Birthday, Daniel!

Because I have no time to write any fic today, and I don't want the day to just meander past without any notice, here are a few of my favorite Daniel music vids!  I skipped most of the Daniel/Sha're ones, and the Meridian ones, because I wanted this to be a mostly cheerful list. :) I skipped the Jack and Daniel friendship ones, too, because I've got more than enough of those for a separate post.

Zero to Hero, by OneofAradia. Her website sadly seems to be down. If anyone knows of a way to get hold of this hilarious vid online, which celebrates Daniel's evolution from the movie through the first seven years of the show, please comment and let me know!

My Sacrifice, by Cathy. This one also seems to be currently unavailable. This is one of my absolute favorites, telling the story of Daniel's part in Reckoning, with some amazingly clear meta on the Sam and Daniel friendship thrown in for good measure. (At least, that's how I understood Cathy's treatment of Replicarter's choices.)

Make Your Own Kind of Music, by Gayalondiel. Sweet and charming, it highlights Daniel's unique perspective and his determination to hold fast to his principles and beliefs. This one, too, seems to be a dead website. Is it unethical of me to offer to send these three vids (and OneofAradia's Giant that I recced last time), which are saved on my hard drive, to people who would like to see them?

Fields of Innocence, by Glenda. Angsty and aching, this vid shows Daniel's brightest and darkest moments in turn. Any music vid that incorporates the movie (and wow, the lighting contrast!) is a good thing in my book. It's the first vid on the page.

Tubthumping, by Cherry Brandy. It's a cheerful salute to Daniel-whumping, and Daniel's amazing weeble-gene!

Me and You (or You and Me?), by Brihana. Yes, a Daniel and Vala vid rec for me! And the world isn't even coming to an end. This hilarious vid is strictly from Prometheus Unbound and is both frenetic and frantic... and ends just perfectly. :)

Music video recs: Teamy goodness

In tribute to ten marvelous years of SG-1, even though I only discovered it two years ago… :) Team-oriented music vids! Which ones are your favorites?

Sibling Rivalry. Utter silliness, completely OOC for the sake of the song, and hysterically funny. The text at the end of the vid has me giggling out loud every time.

Coming Home. A really fantastic episode music vid, covering the arc that began in TBFTGOG and ended with The Serpent’s Lair. Lyrics beautifully matched to the action in the episodes, and a wonderful team feeling.

By Melanie: The Gate (second in the first row of team vids). A charming, sweetly nostalgic music vid that showcases the Stargate itself, as well as the teams that went through it. It moves from scenes of entering the Gate, to tumultous exits, to the Gate closing. As it says at the end: “Don’t cry because it’s over… Smile because it happened.”

By Mel and Chris: The End of the World (second in the list of SG-1 vids). Irreverent and fun, this vid marvels at the Earth’s continuing existence with SG-1 as their first line of defense. :) Includes quotes from Urgo, WoO, Tangent, 1969, Evolution, and more. I’m a bit of a snob about the quality of music vids, and this one is of a lower resolution than I usually like, but the fun of the vid more than makes up for it.

By Oneofaradia: Giant. The SGC versus the Goa’uld. Featuring SG-1, Hammond, and Janet. Powerful and triumphant, celebrating friendship and teamwork! (website seems to be temporarily down)

By Deanie: This One’s For the Girls (second from the bottom of the page.) Another truly sweet vid, this one celebrates Sam, Janet, Katherine, and Cassie. My only complaint is that Sha’re isn’t here, too. The quality of the vid is a little lower than I would prefer, but it’s well worth it.

By Beth: I’ll Be There For You. Because you never, ever get tired of teamy goodness. Again, smaller resolution than I’d choose, but a feel-good vid that’ll make you smile.
