My thanks to the authors who made Quantum Mirror Soup a reality (an inadvertent pun, there!): Thothmes, Ivorygates, Topazowl, Wonderland, Jedibuttercup, Watervole, Sallymn, Fig Newton, Goddess47, Gategremlyn, Anthropos Agnostos, Maddersahatter, Antonomasia, and Eilidh. My deepest appreciation to our regular cooks; a respectful salute of the ladle to our new chefs, Watervole, Anthopos Angostos, and Mific; and a crisp new linen hat to Ivorygates, Goddess47, Mific, Wonderland, Thothmes and Topazowl for their multiple entries. (I wanted to go with gold-encrusted ones, but the Goa'uld swiped them.)

While the anthology is still not wholly complete, most is now available for your enjoyment. I will continue to update the TOC and the anthology as the final stories are submitted.

This table of contents lists each individual story in the anthology with a detailed summary and excerpt. You can follow the links to the individual author's website, or jump to that story in the complete anthology. Assume spoilers throughout the entire series, and heed individual warnings.

Leave a link to your fic at this entry; e-mail me at sg1.fig at gmail with a copy of your fic and the completed template for the TOC (you can find a cut-past-and-fill HTML at this link). You are welcome to include multiple links for where your story is archived (journal, AO3, website, etc) but please do indicate which one is your preferred one. If you're posting on AO3, please add your story to the Quantum Mirror collection.

It's been a great month, and I think the slower rolling out of Soup Fics has worked quite well. Mind you, I've only had time to read two of them... but I'm definitely looking forward to a marathon reading!

Eurydice Ascending has always been on my personal favorites list. It's a fabulous AU that takes a sharp left through FIAD and has Sha're survive long enough to make it to Cimmeria, and then the action shifts between Sam and Daniel trying to get to the Hammer, Sha'uri fighting with Amaunet inside the Hammer, and the entire SGC collaborating to give her the time she needs to make it.

I love the competency and the cleverness of the SGC personnel, the close Sam and Daniel friendship, and most of all the sheer awesomeness of Sha'uri. Yep, that's the woman who took down Ra.

For various reasons, the URL for Eurydice Ascending hasn't been consisted. But now ChristinaK (aka butterflykiki) as archived it on AO3. Much yay. :)

If you haven't read Eurydice Ascending yet and you enjoy Daniel/Sha're or competent characters or awesome women or teamy goodness or a happy ending, you'll definitely want to read this immediately. And if you've read it before, you will probably enjoy reading it again!

We're about two weeks into Quantum Mirror Alphabet Soup month (for a given value of month) and it's time for an update.

Twelve stories have been posted so far; you can find links in the comments of the official Soup entry. There are still three unclaimed letters. If you're interested in taking one, comment at the signup entry.

For Soup cooks who archive their fic at AO3, there has been an Alphabet Soup collection for a while now, but this is the first time that I have actually been a member of AO3 while a Soup was running. (Thanks for creating it in the first place, wyomingnot!) I have created a subcollection: Quantum Mirror. I have, hopefully, sent invitations to those Soup fics that are already on AO3 to join the subcollection. If you post your fic to AO3, please feel free to add your story to the subcollection.

Questions, comments, problems, shrieks of inarticulate frustration: it's all welcome below. :)

First of all, my apologies for the long absence when there's an Alphabet Soup simmering on the back burner. I have been dealing with multiple connectivity issues lately and I still can't access LJ at all. Or AO3. I hope this will clear up soon, sigh.

Meanwhile, we have Quantum Alphabet Soup scheduled to go live next week. Since I haven't been around to cheerfully remind the cooks to keep stirring, and there are still several unclaimed letters, I am considering one of two possibilities:

1. Announcing an extension of 2-3 weeks, to give everyone time to write and hopefully get more people to sign up. This isn't very fair to those who have been working, and I know that one cook has finished her story already (although I haven't seen it yet).

2. Revising the usual schedule of "everyone post on the same day" to "everyone post within a certain time frame" which would likely stretch for 3 weeks or so.

I welcome your thoughts. And if you haven't signed up yet to write at least 100 words of gen Quantum Mirror fic, you may go here. And if you've already written your fic and want a second letter, I certainly won't stop you. :)

Welcome to the 23rd SG-1 Alphabet Soup! We've been doing this for ten years now, so some of you are old hands at this, some of you have joined us on a few occasions, and others haven't tried it at all. Veteran cooks and newbie chefs are all cordially invited! We will be serving up 26 (or more) servings of Alphabet Soup for the occasion.

The theme for this Soup will be Quantum Mirror. Your story may include any character and any era (pre-series, post-series, early season, late season, whatever), as long as it's gen, related to SG-1, and fits our theme. ( more details under the cut )

This is how it works: comment below to sign up. By commenting, you are committing yourself to writing at least 100 words of Quantum Mirror gen fic. In the past, signing up included claiming a letter of the alphabet; as we did last time, I will give you a randomly assigned letter. This avoids the problem of simultaneous claims on the different platforms of DW and LJ.

Comment with a link to your fic in the Quantum Mirror post, using the title as the subject of your comment (N is for Naquadah, K is for Kree Equals Yoo-hoo, W is for What Just Happened, or whatever). Send me a copy by e-mail and your TOC template as well, as soon as they're ready. When all the letters have been submitted, a master post for the anthology will be posted, complete with the detailed table of contents.

There are only four rules: your fic must be at least 100 words, although there is no maximum limit; it must have some connection to the Quantum Mirror, however you choose to interpret the theme; the fic should be canon compliant, although it does not have to reference canon specifically and may be set in pre-series or future eras; and it should be gen. This is part of SG-1 Gen Fic Day, after all. :) You may write about any character, including original ones, that fit these criteria. You may mention canon ships - for example, Teal'c/Drey'auc or Daniel/Sha're, or even Jack/Sam or Sam/Rodney if you are using those canonical AUs - but no romance, please, and no sneaking in references to your favorite non-canon ship. If in doubt, feel free to ask.

Please spread the word - I'm always delighted to have new authors join us (just as I'm ecstatic when loyal regulars join us for yet another round.) Signal boosts are always appreciated! What an amazing, incredible blessing this is. My new granddaughter is beautiful. My daughter is a trooper. My son-in-law is utterly besotted. Quite frankly, so am I. :D
